Norway’s gender equality measures often attract interest abroad. Gender in Norway is a new, English-language website providing information on gender equality and research in Norway.
06/11/2006 :: This is the first website dedicated to Norwegian research and practice in the field of gender equality.
It provides information on such issues as the rules for gender balance on company boards, paternity leave quotas and Norway’s promotion of gender equality in peace and development efforts. The website is a useful resource for members of the general public abroad who are interested in gender equality and research. The research results published can also be used in practical gender equality efforts.
The website is a portal to other public websites, with links to relevant policies, strategies, tools, legislation, statistics, research communities and publications. It has been designed to make gender equality information more readily available.
Gender in Norway was launched on Tuesday 31 October in connection with a seminar marking the sixth anniversary of UN Security Council resolution 1325. It has been developed as a cooperation project involving several organisations and ministries.
